By Orlando RacelisDo you like food cooked with onions? I do. But that is not what we are going to discuss about today. We are going to talk about the health benefits the onion brings to us. It is a common belief from the older generation that it can cure individuals with colds, bronchitis and even asthma. Many people still use them instead of buying over the counter medications or prescription drugs. In Asian culture, onions are a staple in a type of broth. It is served to those who have suffered from malnutrition, severe illnesses or even broken bones.
Now let us look at in the scientific side. Onions contain various types of antioxidants that can help boost our immune system. Results from recent studies shows that it also helps to fight against diabetes, heart disease and some types of cancers. It also contains large amounts of chromium and vitamin C which is needed by our body. Individuals who have high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels have been able to actually reduce to the normal level. All they did is to add onions to their diet daily for thirty days. Of course this is debatable and it requires retesting the validity of the test result.
It is a fact that not all reported health benefits are 100 percent accurate. It requires a truly licensed medical professional body to handle these tests and evaluations. However, it is a known fact that onion is a vegetable that is both delicious and is considered a healthy food with low cholesterol content.
